Edinburgh offers an enormous range of locations for portrait photography, from apartments, studios and rehearsal spaces to hotel interiors, cafés, galleries and working environments already connected to someone’s life or profession.
I photograph people on location across Edinburgh, producing portrait photography for writers, artists, performers, academics, therapists, business owners and personal brands looking for photographs that feel connected to how they appear in everyday interaction rather than isolated from it.
Much of my portrait photography takes place outside the studio where posture, expression, clothing, surroundings and interaction naturally shape the image. Environmental portraiture allows photographs to develop within spaces people already occupy rather than against neutral backdrops removed from context.
As a Fine Art Photography graduate from the Glasgow School of Art, my work combines editorial portraiture with observational photography photographed across Edinburgh and Central Scotland.

I’m a Fine Art Photography graduate from the Glasgow School of Art and I have spent years photographing people through personal and commissioned projects and alongside professional work centred around people and communication.
My photography is characterised by portraits photographed outside the studio, in homes, public and working environments. Those spaces are used to form part of the photograph itself.
I love observational portraiture and while I’m photographing, I’m watching posture, gestures, expressions; I’m asking questions, listening, encouraging the people I photograph to think more, explain more, reveal more.
I often produce portrait photographs for writers, artists, performers, business owners, personal brands, academics and therapists.
